![]() The depletion lands are very important for the deck's ability to generate the correct colors of mana to cast its spells. For example, say you have a Prism, a Chalice, and Nightscape Familiar on board - If you remove a counter from your Prism to cast Experimental Augury (for a single mana thanks to the Familiar) you'll gain back the counter you removed from Pentad Prism plus add a counter to the Chalice and any depletion lands you have in play. What's spicy is that with more than one of these effects out and Nightscape Familiar, you'll actually gain mana for casting your spells in some instances. The deck also plays these lands that have counters and generate extra mana: Whenever you cast any of the proliferation spells, you can add counters to these as well. ![]() Pentad Prism and Everflowing Chalice are both counter-based artifacts that generate mana. However, with so many ways to bolster counters in the deck, we have other plans for abusing them as well. The overall gameplan is probably already pretty clear - You give your opponent a poison counter and cast a bunch of spells to proliferate them up to 10. At the very top of the curve, we have four Vivisurgeon's Insight to help refuel the hand in the later game and/or proliferate those last few counters needed to close out a game. It digs three cards deep and lets you choose one and put it into your hand, then proliferate. This is more of a card draw spell with a poison counter stapled onto it but it is great nonetheless. Secondly, Infectious Inquiry serves a similar role but is a little slower and comes at sorcery speed. The deck plays a total of 16 cards from ONE - Each one directly gives opponents poison counters, proliferates, or both. Without further ado, let's jump right into a less-than-common, nearly creatureless, Infect deck tech. So, let's look at what Pauper Infect looks like today, the new cards that enable it, and how the deck works. However, thanks to several new cards from Phyrexia: All Will Be One, it has a brand-new face in the format. Infect isn't something that's new to Pauper. ![]()
